Biscayne National Park is a tropical paradise. Biscayne Bay, in the Florida Keys, is an island lagoon that receives several tides each day. The largest among them is the outgoing tide, which is highest in the months of June, July, and August. The average daily tide range is six feet. tidal range is affected by other factors such as moon phases, cloud cover, and winds.
Biscayne National Park is well protected. Its shores are wide, clean, and rocky. The waters are full of exotic fish species, including rainbow trout, croaker, barracuda, snapper, and tarpon. The lagoon has over ten species of birds including the rare black-footed booby. The park services provide boats, guides, snorkeling gear, and swimming gear for a quiet and enjoyable trip.
There are two main entrances to the park: Bay Entry near mile post and Frenchman’s Bay Entry. You can drive your vehicle straight to your desired destination or rent a boat from the park office and go in a wheelchair. Boat tours are available throughout the year but generally not during peak periods (usually April – October). You can visit the wildlife at Frenchman’s Bay, also on Biscayne Bay.
A number of facilities are offered in Biscayne National Park. The park headquarters has information about ongoing programs and events. Biscayne National is surrounded by beautiful scenery and offers many outdoor activities. Biscayne National Park also has over one hundred public beaches. Allot yourself a little or a lot of time to explore this park.
The park is managed by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Department. Although private land is allowed, all land is controlled by FWS. It is advised that children be kept on a leash while they enjoy the natural environment of Biscayne National Park. If caught, they must be handled by a humane shelter.
Biscayne National Park is a popular tourist destination. It is located in the Southeastern part of Florida and is near the city of Miami. The City of Miami has an International airport that connects it to almost anywhere in the world. The best time to visit Biscayne is from May to September, or from October to March. It can be very hot during the months of June to August.
You have two different entry points into the park; Florida enters the park through Highway 506 North. There is access through Gainesville to reach Biscayne. The other way is by taking U.S. Highway 20 North and traveling towards Gainesville. Both ways to provide easy access to the park and the lagoon.
A boat cruise is available from April to June each year. The cost is around fifty dollars for adults and fifty dollars for children. Children usually have to pay extra to enjoy the cruise. There are fishing packages available for families with younger children who would enjoy learning to fish on a pontoon boat during their special day at the park.

- Fall (September to November): Temperatures start to cool down, ranging from the mid-70s to low 80s Fahrenheit. September is typically still quite hot and humid, while November can be pleasant with lower humidity.
- Winter (December to February): Temperatures can range from the mid-60s to low 70s Fahrenheit. It’s typically a dry season with cooler temperatures at night.
Hurricane season in the Atlantic runs from June to November, so it’s important to stay aware of weather forecasts during that time. Additionally, afternoon thunderstorms can pop up quickly during the summer months, so it’s a good idea to plan outdoor activities for the morning or early evening.
